Sunday Club will be on today, 25 June. This will be our last Sunday Club before the summer break. The children will be making some crafts that will go towards setting the scene for the summer services theme. So come along and have fun!

Summer all-age services

Starting next Sunday, July 2nd, our theme will be “The Bible goes to Sea”. Services will be shorter than usual, and suitable for all the family.

July 2The Waters of Creation: Genesis 1.1-13
July 9Moses crosses the Red Sea: Exodus 14.10-31
July 16Jonah tries to escape on a boat: Jonah 1.1-17, 3.1-13 (We will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism on this Sunday)
July 23Jesus calms the storm: Matthew 8.23-27
July 30Jesus walks on water: Matthew 14.22-34
August 6Paul is shipwrecked: Acts 27 and 28

YOU CAN HELP! We are looking for items to decorate the sanctuary, and to use in the services, to do with the sea, boats, water etc. For example: could you lend us a model ship, an inflatable dingy, a fishing tackle or a fishing net, nautical charts, life jackets, flags, ropes- anything to do with water, boats and ships (no matter how large or small)? Just bring them along on Sundays, or contact Peter or Karen, or the church office.

Tuesday services: The final service before the summer break will be this Tuesday 27 June at 11.45am. Services return on 22 August.

Help with the church grounds: A bit of weeding is needed in the grounds surrounding the Church. If you can spare an hour on Wednesday 28 June from 10-11am or on Saturday 1 July from 10-11am, please come along and give a hand. You don’t need to stay the hour! Any help is most welcome. Tea / coffee or cool drink will be available.

Walking Group: The next Saturday walk will take place on Saturday 1 July. We will travel to Leadhills in shared cars. Once there, walkers can choose either a ‘High Level’ walk up the Lowther Hills or a ‘Low Level’ walk along an old railway line towards Elvanfoot. Those going on either of these walks should meet outside the Church at 8.30am.

Pastoral Visitors: The Kirk Session has decided to strengthen our pastoral care by asking for volunteers to help us with pastoral visiting. Training will be given, including on Safeguarding. If you would like to be involved with this, please speak to Peter or Karen.

Ministry Team summer holidays Deacon Karen Hamilton will be on holiday from 30 June to 13 July inclusive, during which Peter will provide pastoral cover. Rev Peter W Nimmo will be on holiday from 17 to 31 July, during which Karen will provide pastoral cover.

Dates for your diary

The Fellowship Team will be hosting an Afternoon Tea provided by the Tea Bay café in the large hall on Saturday 26 August. Tickets will be available soon but meantime, please put the date in your diary. The Fundraising Committee have organised an evening with the Arietta Choir on Saturday 30 September. The Christmas Fayre will be on Saturday 18 November. Further details for both events will follow but meantime please put these dates in your diary.

Remembrance Poppy Installation Project: Please recycle and bring empty round based plastic bottles, milk bottle caps, left over red wool and large black buttons for the Poppy Project. They can be left in the large green bag in the welcome area. We will be looking for volunteers to make and paint plastic poppies after the summer. If you knit or crochet Lorna Morrison will give you a pattern and wool to make poppies. Let’s make this use of talents a time of fun and fellowship. Any queries contact Lorna Morrison, tel. 07962 086130.

Kylbride Hospice Drop-in Service is resuming. They are welcoming those with a life-limiting illness and their carers to attend the hospice if they need support or have any questions for their clinical team. The service is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.

Church office: To contact the office, please phone or visit the office when it is open- every Thursday from 10am to 4pm. Alternatively, please call 0141 642 9271.

Halls Convenor: please send any enquiries about hall bookings to Bob McDougall.

The Prayer Tree is situated inside the main door entrance, for anyone in the church and community who wishes to add a prayer to it. You can write your prayer on one of the supplied labels, and either put it on the tree or into the prayer box. The ministry team will look at the prayers regularly and pray for you. ‘Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.’ (Jeremiah 29.12).

Katharina Nimmo will be delighted to receive your announcements by Tuesday at 6pm for inclusion in the Order of Service.
