Call to worship based on Jeremiah 29:4-9

Leader: The Lord spoke to his people far from home, reminding them they had not been forgotten.

All: God is with us wherever we are.

Leader: The Lord calls us to live faithfully, to serve others, and to trust in his promises.

People: We will seek God’s kingdom and the good of those around us.

Leader: Come, let us worship the Lord who holds our present and our future.

People: We lift our hearts in praise to God.

THEME SONG:   I Have Seen the Golden Sunshine

I have seen the golden sunshine,

I have watched the flowers grow,

I have listened to the song birds

And there’s one thing now I know,

They were all put there for us to share

By someone so divine,

And if you’re a friend of Jesus, [Clap x 4]

You’re a friend of mine.

Chorus….

I’ve seen the light, I’ve seen the light,

And that’s why my heart sings.

I’ve known the joy, I’ve known the joy

That loving Jesus brings.

I have seen the morning sunshine,

I have heard the oceans roar,

I have seen the flowers of springtime,

And there’s one thing I am sure,

They were all put there for us to share

By someone so divine,

And if you’re a friend of Jesus, [Clap x 4]

You’re a friend of mine.

Chorus….

I’ve seen the light, I’ve seen the light,

And that’s why my heart sings.

I’ve known the joy, I’ve known the joy

That loving Jesus brings.

Responses

There are different gifts,

but it is the same Spirit who gives them.

There are different ways of serving God,

but it is the same Lord who is served.

God works through different people

in different ways,

but it is the same God who achieves

his purpose through them all.

Each one is given a gift by the Spirit,

to use it for the common good.

Prayer of Commitment said together

God of grace,

you have called us

to be servants of Christ Jesus,

and to share in his ministry of love

to all people.

Renew our zeal,

give us joy in your service.

Direct us by your Spirit of wisdom

and fill us with the gifts of your grace,

that together we may declare

your wonderful deeds

and show your love to the world;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our mission statement:

We are a warm and welcoming church

who seek to help all people experience and share

the love and teachings of Jesus Christ

in our worship and community involvement.

We affirm the dignity of all people

through compassion and kindness.

Our offerings help support the mission and work of our church and we are grateful to all those who give financially Sunday by Sunday. Many people give by standing order but there is also the option to give via the offering plate in the vestibule area of the church, immediately before entering or leaving the sanctuary. You can pop your offering in the plate either before or after the service. Thank you!

Retiral Offering – Venezuela Earthquake

Following the mention last Sunday of the recent earthquake in Venezuela, it has been suggested by some members that an opportunity be given to members of the congregation who may not have already done so to give in aid of the emergency relief currently being offered, with donations being coordinated on behalf of several key charities by the Disaster Emergency Committee. Therefore an opportunity will be provided next Sunday (19th July) for a retiral offering in support of the relief efforts in Venezuela.

Extra Kirk Session Meeting

A special meeting of the Kirk Session to discuss the matter of elders’ Districts and related matters will be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 21st July. Papers will be issued in due course.
