MEET THE TEAM
Locum Minister
Dear Friends
I am pleased to be with you as your Locum for the next six months, or until you find your next minister.
I will be leading worship services and working one day each week which will be taken up with service preparation and pastoral emergencies such as funerals and hospital visits. I have met with the Worship, Education and Prayer team and we will be using the Book of Acts for our sermon series. I hope to visit the youth organisations that meet in Cambuslang and invite them to take an active part in our Remembrance Sunday service. I will also be involved in some of the Tuesday services. If time allows, I would like to visit some of Cambuslang members.
Please stop and introduce yourself to me and I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Rev Mike Gargrave
Depute Session Clerks
Three Deputy Session Clerks were appointed in November 2025 by the Kirk Session to whom we are responsible, during Cambuslang Parish Churches Interim Ministry. They are Alison Thomson, Isobel Allison and Lorna Morrison. Alison and Isobel’s remit is ‘administration’ helping the Kirk Session to function smoothly in enacting its business and in its oversight of the congregation. This includes organising regular meetings of the Session Clerk Team and Team Convenors, assisting the Session Clerk, Roll-keeper and other office bearers with their administrative responsibilities. Isobel line manages paid staff and contracted’ volunteers
Lorna’s role is ‘pastoral’ which includes support to the elders in their different roles and responsibilities, identifying those in the congregation who are visitors, new attendees and regular attendees and interacting to make them welcome and valued. Lorna liaises with the ministry team sharing any concerns and is responsible for linking with the organisations that use the church buildings.
In practice we have found that our roles are very flexible and we often take on whatever needs to be done to make Cambuslang Parish church a place of welcome for all, supporting Kirk Session, working closely with the Interim Moderator Rev. Dave Slater and Locum Minister Rev. Mike Gargrave during this time of vacancy. We work as a team and support each other in our respective roles.
