                    Anne Rae

Included in the Service of Confirmation will be HYMN 619/620 Spirit of the Living God and HYMN 795 Take, oh take me as I am (sung twice). Both hymns will be sung seated.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ,

God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Invitation to the Table

HYMN                   Within the circle of your friends

                    Offering presented

Within the circle of your friends,

you found a place for me.

Beside those whom I often meet,

near people whom I’ve yet to greet

I’m privileged to be,

I’m privileged to be.

Within your commonwealth of love,

you found a place for me

to listen, heal, disturb or care,

seek words to sing, find truth to share,

let life be full and free,

let life be full and free.

Around the table you prepare,

you found a place for me

where, breaking bread and pouring wine,

you tell us all, ‘This means you’re mine.

And mine you’ll always be,

and mine you’ll always be.’

Now brother, servant, saviour, Lord,

I make a place for you.

Called to your feast, among your friends,

and keen to live as God intends,

I come to be made new,

I come to be made new.

John L Bell & Graham Maule

                                        Tune: CH4 485    ‘Repton’

Why do we eat this meal?

To remind us that Jesus died and rose from death

so that we are freed from sin

and share in God’s love.

We remember and rejoice

Why do we eat bread?

Bread reminds us of the bread Jesus ate

in the upper room with his disciples.

When we break it we remember Jesus’ suffering.

We share it together and Jesus unites us in his love.

We remember and rejoice

Why do we drink wine together?

The wine reminds us of the wine Jesus drank

in the upper room with his disciples.

When we pour it out it reminds us

that Jesus gave his life for us.

Drinking together shows that we are one in Jesus.

We drink and Jesus makes us glad.

We remember and rejoice

On the night Jesus was betrayed he took bread, he gave thanks; he broke it and gave it to his disciples saying: “Take eat, this is my body broken for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” He also took the cup, he gave thanks and gave it to them saying: “drink of it all of you, this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

We remember his death,

we live by his presence;

we wait for his coming.

Our mission statement:

We are a warm and welcoming church

who seek to help all people experience and share

the love and teachings of Jesus Christ

in our worship and community involvement.

We affirm the dignity of all people

through compassion and kindness.

Our offerings help support the mission and work of our church and we are grateful to all those who give financially Sunday by Sunday. Many people give by standing order but there is also the option to give via the offering plate in the vestibule area of the church, immediately before entering or leaving the sanctuary. You can pop your offering in the plate either before or after the service. Thank you!

Nominating Committee: A meeting will take place immediately following Morning Worship today for the purposes of electing a Nominating Committee. Fellowship Teas will be served at the end of the meeting.

Retiral Offering – Tabeetha School: Today’s retiring collection is for the important and valuable work of Tabeetha School in Jaffa, Israel. Founded in 1863 and run by the Church of Scotland, children and young people of all faiths – Christian, Jewish and Muslim – are educated together in a spirit of peace and unity. Operating with limited state funding, ongoing financial support is always necessary. Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.

Bible Blethers: Our next meeting is on Wednesday, 10th June at 10am in the Morriston Room. All are welcome.

The ‘Churches Group’ Men’s Breakfast: Second Saturday of each month, is at Wetherspoons on Saturday 13th June at 8.30-8:45. No booking, just turn up, put your order in, pay for your own and enjoy the company.

Communion and Afternoon Tea:  You are invited to a Service of Holy Communion on Tuesday 16th June at 2pm followed by afternoon tea in the Large Hall. This service is open to all, and arrangements will be made to provide an opportunity for those who might not otherwise be easily able to attend worship, to be welcomed and included for communion and fellowship. For catering purposes, it would be helpful if you would advise us if you were able to join us and also let us know if you require transport.

Stated Annual Meeting: The Stated Annual Meeting of the congregation will take place immediately following morning worship on Sunday 21st June. At this meeting, the accounts for 2025 will be presented.

Christian Aid: Overall we raised £890 between the envelope collection and the afternoon tea. Many thanks to everyone who helped at the afternoon tea.

Flower Power: The theme of the Summer services this year, is ‘Gardens of the Bible’. We will be decorating our worship space with flowers and garlands and are looking for any artificial flowers [preferably not plastic] which you might have at home, and which are no longer in use. If you are happy to donate these, please let Hilary know. Thank you!

Sign of The Fish: – A few months ago we had a request from a Mrs Elizabeth Thomas who lives down south, asking if she could buy a copy of this book.  Unfortunately, we have none for sale, but on eventually finding one sent it to her to read.  She said she found it very interesting, it brought back many memories, & she is returning it.  Apparently, her family went to the church every Sunday & sat in the same pew.  No idea what her maiden name was but just in case anyone remembers the family.  Any information or questions please contact the office.

Prayer Tree: The congregational Prayer Tree is available in the Welcome Area, along with tags on which names can be written of any for whom prayers are sought. Names on the Prayer Tree will normally be included by the Ministry Team in prayers offered in worship at the Sunday Service and Tuesday Service. It is the normal practice of the Ministry Team to include first names only to help preserve appropriate anonymity. If you place a prayer request on the Prayer Tree can you also please remove that tag when prayer is no longer required. Thank you.

Halls Convenor: please send any enquiries about hall bookings etc to our Halls Convenor Derek Burns: derekburnscpc@gmail.com

Ohna Robertson will be away next week so please send your announcements for inclusion in the Order of Service by Wednesday at 12 noon to Linda Wunsch: lindawunsch58@gmail.com
