The Revd David Denniston – with us from 1st March 2024

I am very honoured to have been invited to serve as Locum at Cambuslang Parish Church and am very much looking forward to meeting with you all during the period I am with you.

A native Glaswegian, I was brought up and schooled in the Southside of the city before studying Divinity at Glasgow University. Ordained in 1981, I served in parish ministries in Glasgow (Ruchazie), Fife (Kennoway), Perth (North Church) and Edinburgh (St Cuthbert’s) before being appointed as one of the Interim Ministry team in 2016. I retired last year.

I am married to Jane (also a Minister, and also now retired) and we live with our two ill-disciplined Labradors in Cumbernauld. We have three adult children and three grandchildren.

I am a keen reader (especially of history and current affairs), a keen rugby fan, and a fly fisherman. Music is a particular passion, and I am a bit of an unreconstructed 1970’s ‘prog rocker’ with indifferent song writing ability, less than average guitar playing skills, shaky vocals, and an ongoing confusion as to why fame and fortune have thus far eluded me!

Sunday Club for children aged 3 years old to Primary 7 meets in our halls following the Children’s Time – all children welcome! If you have younger children, feel free to stay in church with them, but if you need to leave, the Welcome Area at the main door is available.

Summer Service 2023 – Lost Property

In the office there are a set of wooden oars & 2 lifejackets.  Unfortunately, we have no idea who donated them.  If they belong to you, can you please arrange to collect them sometime soon.  Thanks for loaning them for the summer services last year.

The Guild: On Monday 19 February Taylor’s Fashions are once again coming to the Guild with their excellent value clothing. Everyone is invited to come along and join us on the day. Tea/Coffee/Soft drinks will be served along with a variety of cakes.
In the past this has proved to be a relaxed, friendly afternoon where many bargains can be found

The Neighbourly will meet on Wednesday 21 February at 2.15pm in the Small Hall. Jan Dobson will speak about the “Trades House of Glasgow”.  All welcome.

Lenten study: We are holding a series of bible studies during lent based on Christian Aid’s “Act on Poverty” studies. They are be held at the Church on Thursdays at 3.30pm. Please come along and join us. For more information if required please contact Jan Ritchie – 0141 641 2018.

World Day of Prayer: Friday 1 March, 2pm in the Rutherglen United Reformed Church, 69 Johnston Drive G73 2QA. Written by Christian women of Palestine. All welcome.
If you wish to take part in the planning or on the day, please speak to Karen Hamilton.
