A Celebration!  Today we are celebrating the commissioning of Rebecca Kean as one of our Girls’ Brigade officers.  The commissioning takes place during our worship, and we are pleased to welcome Karen Scott, Deputy Commissioner for Girls’ Brigade Glasgow, who will lead the commissioning.  We will have home baking in the hall after worship when there will be an opportunity to congratulate Rebecca.

FUN  WITH A PARACHUTE

WITH THE REST OF THE GANG

Dear friends.
Although we are now some 3 weeks into 2024, I send my very best wishes to you all for a blessed New Year.  May you know the closeness of our Lord Jesus Christ.  In addition, I want to bring you up to date with a couple of matters.  First of all, I am sad to report that your minister, Peter Nimmo, has tendered a further fit note, which stretches to 16 April 2024.  Please do continue to pray for Peter, and for his wife, Katharina, in this challenging period.  As a result, the Elders have agreed to seek the services of a Locum Minister.  This will hopefully provide continuity on Sundays, as well as additional pastoral support for the congregation and parish to that already offered by Karen Hamilton, DCS.  I will remain as your Interim Moderator for the foreseeable future.  As before, let me emphasise that I am always open to hear from you via telephone or email of any questions or concerns you may have. Yours in Christ’s service.

Derek W. Hughes

Sunday Club for children aged 3 years old to Primary 7 meets in our halls following the Children’s Time – all children welcome! If you have younger children, feel free to stay in church with them, but if you need to leave, the Welcome Area at the main door is available.

Liz’s Legacy – the Worship Team are looking for volunteers to help deliver flowers after the Sunday Service. If you feel that you would be able to help divide up the flowers and/or deliver them, please give your name and contact number to Lorna Morrison or Ann Boyd. Once we have volunteers we will make up a rota to let you know when your duty will be. Thanking you in anticipation.
Lorna Morrison, Convener, Worship Team

The Neighbourly will meet on Wednesday 31 January at 2.15pm in the Small Hall. Mrs Jan Dobson will speak about “Trades House of Glasgow”. All welcome.

Walking Group: The next walk will take place on Saturday 3 February. This walk is a fairly easy circular walk skirting round Kilsyth and returning to the start along the Forth and Clyde Canal. The length of the walk is just over 5.5 miles. There will also be a more challenging option, instead of returning via the Forth and Clyde Canal Pathway the more adventurous will return via Barr Hill. To avoid a 30 minute wait in the car park for those who choose the Canal option the Barr Hill walkers will stride out after the lunch break, by doing this it is hoped both groups will arrive at the carpark at much the same time.
Those interested in going on this walk should meet outside the Church at the later than normal time of 9.30am.

Lenten study: It is hoped to hold a series of bible studies during lent based on Christian Aid’s “Act on Poverty” studies. They will be held at the Church, starting on Thursday 15 February at 3.30pm. Please come along and join us. For more information if required please contact Jan Ritchie – 0141 641 2018.

Church of Scotland Stamp Appeal: Thank you for your stamps!  I was able to pick up a number of envelopes with used stamps from the church vestibule and they have now been delivered to the Presbytery office from where they are picked up.  Please keep collecting and supporting the stamp appeal.  Hilary

Halls Convenor: please send any enquiries about hall bookings etc to our Halls Convenor Derek Burns email: moc.liamgnull@cpcsnrubkered

The Prayer Tree is situated inside the main door entrance, for anyone in the church and community who wishes to add a prayer to it. You can write your prayer on one of the supplied labels, and either put it on the tree or into the prayer box. The ministry team will look at the prayers regularly and pray for you.

‘Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.’ (Jeremiah 29.12).

Katharina Nimmo will be delighted to receive your announcements by Tuesday at 6pm for inclusion in the Order of Service.
