As the Bible leaves:

CMP 1753 Even though I walk through the valley

1 Even though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death,
Your perfect love is casting out fear.
And even when I’m caught in the middle
of the storms of this life,
I won’t turn back, I know You are near.
And I will fear no evil, for my God is with me.
And if my God is with me, whom then shall I fear,
whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, You never let go,
through the calm and through the storm.
Oh no, You never let go, in every high and every low.
Oh no, You never let go, Lord, You never let go of me.

2 And I can see a light that is coming
for the heart that holds on,
a glorious light beyond all compare.
And there will be an end to these troubles,
but until that day comes
we’ll live to know You here on the earth.
And I will fear no evil, for my God is with me.
And if my God is with me, whom then shall I fear,
whom then shall I fear?      Oh no, You never let go . . .

Yes, I can see a light that is coming
for the heart that holds on,
and there will be an end to these troubles,
but until that day comes,
still I will praise You, still I will praise You.
Yes, I can see a light     Oh no, You never let go . . .

Oh no, You never let go . . .

Even though I walk…

Matt and Beth Redman

Exploring Faith? Thinking about joining the church? If you have started attending church recently and would like to know more about Christianity, please get in touch with our minister, Peter. He hopes to get a few people together to explore the Christian faith and whether they would like to become members of the church. It would also be nice to have a few people who are already members to come along to encourage the new folk! Contact Peter at 0141 586 2126 or email ku.gro.dnaltocsfohcruhcnull@omminp.

Sunday Club for children aged 3 years old to Primary 7 meets in our halls following the Children’s Time – all children welcome if they wish. If you have younger children, feel free to stay in church with them, but if you need to leave, the Welcome Area at the main door is available. We are also in need of a few more adult helpers. Please speak to Peter or Karen if you can help!

Coronation Lunch: The Fellowship Team will be marking the Coronation of King Charles III with a lunch in the large hall after the service on Sunday 7 May.  All members of the congregation are welcome but, to help estimate numbers, please add your name to the sign-up sheet in the Welcome Area. Thank you.

Heavenly Elevenses will be held on Tuesday 9 May at 11.15am. prior to the Tuesday service. All are welcome. It promises to be a royal occasion.

Plant Sale: The Fundraising Group will be holding a plant sale again this year on Saturday 13 May from 10am until 1pm. In addition to the plants there will be other activities (particularly suitable for children) organised by the Scouts. More details will follow but meantime please put the date in your diary!

Summer Outing: The Fellowship Team is planning an all-age summer outing to the newly re-opened David Livingstone Centre in Blantyre on Sunday 11 June after the morning service. The Centre has extensive grounds with walks, nature trails and children’s activities. There is also a café and gift shop and an indoor space will be available if the weather is poor. You can bring your own picnic or have lunch in the café. Travel will be by train or car-share. If you would like to come, please add your name to the sign-up sheet available in the Welcome Area from Sunday 7 May.

Summer Holiday Club: This year’s Summer Holiday Club will be on Tuesday 1 & Wednesday 2 August. It will run from 9.30am to 4.30pm. This has been a very successful format in the club’s we have run before. What we need is people to volunteer as a leader. Please think about it. If you do not have a PVG, we will have to start the process now. Without your help we cannot run the club, and it is a lot of fun both for the kids and the helpers. Please speak to Karen Hamilton for more information.

Fellowship Team: There will be a meeting of the Fellowship Team in the Morriston Room after the service today.

Congregational Annual Meeting will take place following the Sunday service on Sunday 14 May. We will have some printed versions of the accounts available, but you can also obtain an electronic copy by contacting the church office (details above). If you have questions about the accounts, please contact our treasurer, either by emailing or calling the church office.

Cambuslang & District Voluntary Care Club: Sponsored Silence

On the evening of 10May, Cambuslang & District Voluntary Care Club will be holding a Sponsored Silence for one hour. One hour, to most people doesn’t seem much of a challenge but for our Club members it is a big challenge because our usual Club nights are noisy, chatty and very lively. If you would like to support the Club by sponsoring our members with a small donation it would be very much appreciated. Sponsor Sheets are on the table around the Church Office or please speak with Margaret MacFarlane or May Fotheringham.

Coronation Afternoon Tea at Kilbryde Hospice on Tuesday 9 May at Stewartfield Community Centre, East Kilbride, 12.30pm – 2.30pm, to help raise much-needed funds for the hospice. There will be sandwiches, cakes, endless tea and coffee, with musical entertainment by Paul French. For tickets (£6.50) contact the fundraising team on 01355 202020 or ku.gro.ecipsohedyrbliknull@gnisiardnuf or go to the website https://kilbrydehospice.org.uk/shop/fundraising/may-afternoon-tea/

The Prayer Tree is situated inside the main door entrance, for anyone in the church and community who wishes to add a prayer to it. You can write your prayer on one of the supplied labels, and either put it on the tree or into the prayer box. The ministry team will look at the prayers regularly and pray for you. ‘Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.’ (Jeremiah 29.12).

Katharina Nimmo will be delighted to receive your announcements by Tuesday at 6pm for inclusion in the Order of Service: ylimaf.omminnull@anirahtak
