Church Family News

Last week, our Probationer minister, Darren Jalland was preaching for a nominating committee from Old Machar Parish Church in Aberdeen – you might have spotted them in the congregation.  Since then, Darren has been asked to preach as sole nominee for the congregation and this is likely to happen towards the end of September.  We are delighted for Darren and his family and hope that as God has brought them thus far, he will continue to inspire them and resource them for this new and exciting journey ahead.

Next Sunday, 11th September, is Darren’s last Sunday with us.  Darren has been ministering alongside us and to us, since July 2020 and we have come to know him as a compassionate and faithful minister.A light lunch is being organised in the Large Hall to say thank you to Darren.  Please come along and say farewell to Darren and enjoy lunch with him.

Our Tuesday services will resume in the Morriston Room on Tuesday 6th September at 11.45am.  Heavenly Elevenses will be served in the Welcome Area from 11.15am.  If you know of anyone who hasn’t been able to return to church since Covid, this shorter service, would be an ideal opportunity.

Look out your walking shoes and join the church Walking Group for a wee wander at Luss.  On the 10th September, the church Walking Group will travel by shared cars to Luss where there will be a choice of 2 walks. The more difficult climb of 2,400 feet takes in two peaks, Bein Dubh and Coire Na h-Eanachan [if anyone can translate that, I’d love to hear from you!] The lower walk involves a climb of 1,300 feet into the valley of Luss and is approx. 7 miles in distance.  If you would like to come along, please gather outside the church at 8.30am on Sat 10th September.

A night out for our young people! Are you, or do you know of any young people who are in p7 or Secondary school? Our Parish Grouping sister church, Flemington Hallside, is inviting you to ‘Ignite’ on Sunday evenings 6.30pm-7.45pm where you can join other young folk who are the same age as you for fun & activities. If you would like more information, please speak with Karen Hamilton, our Deacon.

The Sunday Group for our young people will resume next Sunday, 11th September.

Meet and 2 Veg.  The Meet and 2 Veg project has been running successfully now for a number of weeks and has approximately 40 folk turning up on each Monday and Wednesday.  The project prevents food going to landfill and provides support for many people who are struggling, although it is open to anyone who wants to come along.  In order to sustain the success of the project we would like to encourage more folk to volunteer once a month either to pick up food from local supermarkets and/or to set up and distribute food on the night.  If you think you could help out, please speak to Bob McDougall or Tony Neeson.

A meeting of the Fundraising Team will be held on Tuesday 23rd September at 7.30.pm via Zoom

Cambuslang Toddlers Are you looking after a toddler and would like a safe place for them to interact and play with other toddlers?  Cambuslang Parish Church Toddlers meet every Thursday in Cambuslang Church Hall from 9.30am -12.30pm.  Spaces are now available.  Please contact Nicola via the group’s facebook page @cambuslangparishchurchtoddlers or message via e-mail moc.liamtohnull@srelddotgnalsubmac

Arts and Crafts exhibition 28th October 2022

I hope you have all been busy with your paint brushes, knitting needles etc  over the summer break preparing  some exhibits  for our art and crafts exhibition which will be held in the hall. Remember  there will be prizes for all ages, from the youngest to the more senior exhibitors.

All work of arts and crafts can be submitted. Lets show the  general public just what talented people we have in our church.

For more information/ questions speak to Tony Neeson or Alastair MacFarlane.

The Prayer Tree is situated inside the main door entrance, for anyone in the church and community who wishes to add a prayer to it.

‘Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.’  Jeremiah 29 v12

Parking at the church – if you are ambulant, please ensure you avoid parking directly outside the church.  It is necessary for those who are not ambulant, to use that limited space to enable them to access the church on Sunday mornings.  Many thanks ?
