THEME SONG: JP 99 I Have Seen the Golden Sunshine

I have seen the golden sunshine,

I have watched the flowers grow,

I have listened to the song birds

And there’s one thing now I know,

They were all put there for us to share

By someone so divine,

And if you’re a friend of Jesus, [Clap x 4]

You’re a friend of mine.

Chorus….

I’ve seen the light, I’ve seen the light,

And that’s why my heart sings.

I’ve known the joy, I’ve known the joy

That loving Jesus brings.

I have seen the morning sunshine,

I have heard the oceans roar,

I have seen the flowers of springtime,

And there’s one thing I am sure,

They were all put there for us to share

By someone so divine,

And if you’re a friend of Jesus, [Clap x 4]

You’re a friend of mine.

Chorus….

I’ve seen the light, I’ve seen the light,

And that’s why my heart sings.

I’ve known the joy, I’ve known the joy

That loving Jesus brings.

Our mission statement:

We are a warm and welcoming church

who seek to help all people experience and share

the love and teachings of Jesus Christ

in our worship and community involvement.

We affirm the dignity of all people

through compassion and kindness.

Our offerings help support the mission and work of our church and we are grateful to all those who give financially Sunday by Sunday. Many people give by standing order but there is also the option to give via the offering plate in the vestibule area of the church, immediately before entering or leaving the sanctuary. You can pop your offering in the plate either before or after the service. Thank you!

CPC Singers: Rehearsals resume today after the service, lasting no longer than 30 minutes.  All are welcome.

Kirk Session: Elders please note that the next Kirk Sessionmeeting will be held on Tuesday 30th June at 7.30 in the Morriston Room.

Walking Group: Our next walk will take place on Saturday 4th July. The destination this time is the Tam O’Shanter Experience in Ayr. The route will take the walkers along an old railway line, then along a country lane to Greenan Castle. The walk continues along the shore and into Belleisle Park for a welcome lunch break. The route then continues along the road back to the Tam O’Shanter car park with a short detour into Rozelle Park. This is a fairly flat walk of around 5.5 miles, those interested in going on this walk should meet outside the Church at 9:00 am. Travel will be in shared cars.

Family Celebration Evening: A reminder to post the tear-off slip from your invitation in the spotty box in the vestibule by next Sunday, 5th July.  Extra invitations are available for those who didn’t get one last week.

Holiday Club: Our friends from Reachout are seeking volunteers from the congregation to help support the Holiday Club 5th-6th August. Do you have time to be a Group Leader or to help in the kitchen with snacks? Please e-mail Shona Baird shona.crrt@outlook.com

They are also looking for cardboard boxes of any size for the Holiday Club. These can be dropped off at the Reachout Office on Tuesday 4th August or again contact Shona Baird shona.crrt@outlook.com

Flower Power: The theme of the Summer services this year, is ‘Gardens of the Bible’. We will be decorating our worship space with flowers and garlands and are looking for any artificial flowers [preferably not plastic] which you might have at home and which are no longer in use. If you are happy to donate these, please let Hilary know. Thank you!

Gazebo: Do you have a Gazebo lurking in your garage/cellar/loft/ caravan/holiday home? Could we borrow it for the duration of the summer services? If you can help, please let Hilary know.

Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee appointed by the congregation at the recent meeting, has now begun it’s work of preparing the search for a new Minister for our congregation. The committee has met and has elected Susan Young as Convener, Alec Scrimgeour as vice-convener, and Alison Paterson as clerk.

The other members of the committee are Allan Brown, Archie Fotheringham, Scott Hamilton, Graham MacGregor, Linda Neeson, Nicola O’Connor, Ohna Robertson, and Allison Suttie. In addition, as we are part of a Parish Grouping with Flemington Hallside, that congregation has appointed Janice Davidson to be their representative on the committee.

The search for a new Minister will begin on 1st July.

Please pray for the committee as they undertake this work, that they may be encouraged, guided, and granted wisdom and discernment. Please remember too that the committee is required to maintain strict confidentiality as they undertake their search for a new Minister. They will be unable to answer any specific questions, so please do not ask!

David Denniston, Interim Minister.

Newsletter: Over the past year or so, we have been issuing a Newsletter, approximately every quarter. This has been very well received and has helped to ensure better communication within our congregation, keeping members informed of things, and it is hoped that this will continue. The Kirk Session have approved the appointment of Alec Scrimgeour as editor of the Newsletter going forward. We thank Alec for his willingness and look forward to his work in this capacity.

Prayer Tree: The congregational Prayer Tree is available in the Welcome Area, along with tags on which names can be written of any for whom prayers are sought. Names on the Prayer Tree will normally be included by the Ministry Team in prayers offered in worship at the Sunday Service and Tuesday Service. It is the normal practice of the Ministry Team to include first names only to help preserve appropriate anonymity.

If you place a prayer request on the Prayer Tree can you also please remove that tag when prayer is no longer required. Thank you.

Halls Convenor: please send any enquiries about hall bookings etc to our Halls Convenor Derek Burns: derekburnscpc@gmail.com

Ohna Robertson will be delighted to receive your announcements for inclusion in the Order of Service by Wednesday at 12 noon: ohna.robertson@ntlworld.com
