Our Mission Statement:

We are a warm and welcoming church

who seek to help all people experience and share

the love and teachings of Jesus Christ

in our worship and community involvement.

We affirm the dignity of all people

through compassion and kindness.

Our offerings help support the mission and work of our church and we are grateful to all those who give financially Sunday by Sunday. Many people give by standing order but there is also the option to give via the offering plate in the vestibule area of the church, immediately before entering or leaving the sanctuary. You can pop your offering in the plate either before or after the service. Thank you!

Thank you!  I would like to express a very sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful folks in Cambuslang Parish Church who wished me well, sent greetings, and joined in last week’s celebration for my ‘significant’ birthday. Many thanks indeed! I was genuinely overwhelmed by the kindness and thoughtfulness of people. And a particular thank you to the Hospitality Team for the lunch etc last Sunday. It was marvellous!                                        David Denniston

Christian Aid Week will take place between the 10th and 16th May. Envelopes will be placed in the pews for donations for the work of Christian Aid.

The Guild: The Guild outing to Largs and Troon is tomorrow (Monday, 11th May). Please note that the bus will leave the church at 10.30am and return around 7pm.

Bible Blethers: Unfortunately our meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 13th May has been cancelled. We shall meet on Wednesday 27th May, 10th & 24th June as previously intimated. Anyone wishing to join us will be made most welcome.

Can you believe it, it’s almost that time of year again. Our spectacular Church Plant Sale is on the horizon. So clear your diary, look out your gardening gloves and trowel and get ready for our amazing Plant Sale & Coffee Morning, Saturday 16th May. 10am- 2pm. £3/children free.

Sunday 17th May – Congregational Group Photo:  We are planning to take a group photo of the congregation after the service on Sunday 17th May. The photo will appear in the Parish Profile which is being compiled in preparation for the vacancy. Don’t be camera shy! We would like to include as many members of the congregation as possible.

The Girls’ Brigade will be hosting their annual Parents’ and Friends Evening on Monday 18th May in the large hall at 7 pm. We extend a warm welcome to family and friends.

Pentecost Sunday (24th May): We celebrate Pentecost on Sunday 24th May, when we will remember the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the first disciples with the sound of a mighty wind, and the signs of flames of fire. To help mark this Sunday and make it special, the congregation are invited to come dressed in flame colours (eg red, yellow, orange). The brightness of these ‘flame’ colours will help us remember the tongues of fire that appeared on the Day of Pentecost, and add to our congregational celebration of this important festival. Additionally, if any of you can speak a language other than English and would be willing to share a short reading in that language in the course of our Pentecost service, then please say to either Hilary or David.

Flower Power: The theme of the Summer services this year, is ‘Gardens of the Bible’. We will be decorating our worship space with flowers and garlands and are looking for any artificial flowers [preferably not plastic] which you might have at home and which are no longer in use. If you are happy to donate these, please let Hilary know. Thank you!

Foodbank: A big thank you to everyone who supports the Foodbank by donating. The items most needed this month are: UHT Milk, Tinned Potatoes, Tinned Carrots, Tinned Peas, Jam, Diluting Juice, Sugar, Tinned Fish, Macaroni Cheese, Beans and Sausages, Custard/ Rice Pudding, Toilet Rolls, Size 4 Nappies, Shaving Foam.

Prayer Tree: The congregational Prayer Tree is available in the Welcome Area, along with tags on which names can be written of any for whom prayers are sought. Names on the Prayer Tree will normally be included by the Ministry Team in prayers offered in worship at the Sunday Service and Tuesday Service. It is the normal practice of the Ministry Team to include first names only to help preserve appropriate anonymity.

If you place a prayer request on the Prayer Tree can you also please remove that tag when prayer is no longer required. Thank you.

Halls Convenor: please send any enquiries about hall bookings etc to our Halls Convenor Derek Burns: derekburnscpc@gmail.com

Ohna Robertson will be delighted to receive your announcements for inclusion in the Order of Service by Wednesday at 12 noon: ohna.robertson@ntlworld.com
