Discovery Group – ‘Believing and Belonging’: A group for those who are interested in thinking about the basics of the Christian faith, or considering what it might mean to be a member of the church, or interested in refreshing their understanding of Christianity, or just wondering (!) will be beginning on Thursday 1st May at 7.00pm in the Morriston Room. If you are interested then please see the separate leaflet which has further details or speak with our Locum Minister, David (07903 926727 denniston.david@gmail.com).
LCR (Local Church Review): Meeting with Stuart Crawford is open to the whole congregation and not just Elders. The LCR team is comprised of individuals who help the congregation examine its ministry, finances, demographics, and other aspects of its life. Please consider coming along to hear about the life of our church We will meet in the small hall on Thursday 1st May 2025 from 7:30pm.
Church Fundraising Challenge: This challenge involves starting with a £10 or £20 ‘start up’ that the church will provide. The expectation is that through your own creative means and talent, you will generate a profit for church funds. You will of course be expected to repay the original amount plus any profit you make. This fundraising project will last from May until September, allowing all who participate plenty of time to knit, sew, bake or grow, or come up with your own ideas. If you are willing to take on the challenge, please give your name to any of the Fundraising Team: Janet Stewart, Ohna Robertson, Alison Thomson, Bob McDougall or Tony Neeson.
Walking Group: The next walk will take place on Saturday 3rd May. This is a circular walk from Dunblane to Bridge of Allan and back with good views of the Allan Water. It is approximately 7 miles long and is somewhat undulating, although there are no steep gradients – in total the ups (and downs) amount to less than 200 metres. A shorter option of about 4 miles is available by catching the bus or train back from Bridge of Allan. The walk is mostly on rough paths with some sections of metalled road. If there is rain in the days before the walk there could be a couple of wet/muddy patches. Those interested in going on this walk should meet outside the Church at 8:30, travel will be in shared cars.
Monthly Celebration of Communion: There will be a short and simple celebration of Holy Communion after morning service next Sunday, 4th May. This service is open to all and those wishing to attend are invited to proceed to the front pews of the church after the main service is concluded.
Date For Your Diary: It is nearly time for CHRISTIAN AID week and this year the appeal is more necessary than ever with so much misery in the world. We are holding an Afternoon Tea on Saturday 10th May and hope you can come along and give your support. Tickets are available from Sunday 27th April. This is a chance to meet up with friends and do some good.
Close Knit 850 project: Lorna Morrison asks that knitters stop knitting squares at present as there has been an overwhelming response and we now need to construct the blankets. We welcome any squares you have been working on, but please do not start anymore. We will continue sewing squares into blankets on Thursday 15 May from 1:30 – 4pm. Come along for even a short while to sew/crochet/have a natter and a cup of tea with home baking!
Halls Convenor: please send any enquiries about hall bookings etc to our Halls Convenor Derek Burns: derekburnscpc@gmail.com
Ohna Robertson will be delighted to receive your announcements for inclusion in the Order of Service by Wednesday at 12 noon: ohna.robertson@ntlworld.com
