HYMN Today we bring our thankful hearts
Tune CH4-234 ‘O Waly Waly’
1: Today we bring our thankful hearts,
For all a mothering love imparts:
For those who gave us life and breath,
For love that’s stronger far than death.
2: For kindness, patience, warmth and care,
For each embrace, each tear, each prayer,
Each word of peace, each healing touch,
These simple gifts which mean so much.
3: We look to you, our mothering Lord,
Who knows love’s cost, and love’s reward,
Your passion fiercer than the grave,
Love for the world you came to save.

LETTER FROM OUR INTERIM MODERATOR
March 2025
Dear friends
During my conduct of worship on Sunday 23rd March 2025, I asked the congregation to pray for the forthcoming meeting of Elders on Tuesday 25th March 2025. I indicated that it was important for the Kirk Session to consider various options on the way forward in your ministry vacancy. My apologies that it was not possible to say anything more specific at that time, but I awaited the guidance of your Elders.
Having fully discussed matters at that meeting, I can update you on where we are placed. It was the decision of a previous Kirk Session meeting to pursue the possibility of Interim Ministry (more about the nature of that in a moment). However, when this was advertised through the national church offices, no applications were received. Nevertheless, on Tuesday evening at our most recent meeting of the Kirk Session, the Elders decided that they would be happy for the post to be readvertised with the hope and prayer that a suitable person may be found.
For those who know little or nothing about Interim Ministry, it’s important to say that this is a very specific and focused type of ministry. Normally, an experienced and particularly skilled person takes responsibility for becoming the full-time ordained minister of word and sacrament in a congregation for up to 18 months in total. During that period, s/he works closely together with the Elders and congregation to set aims and objectives, and to implement these in order that the charge is made ready to call a full-time permanent minister through the normal channel of appointing a nominating committee, etc.
I do hope that the above is helpful to you and promise that I will keep you informed of any progress.
Please do get in touch with me directly if you have any questions.
Yours sincerely
Derek W. Hughes
Interim Moderator
