In February 2025, eleven of us embarked on Hilary Brand’s Lent course “Not a Tame Lion” which was based on the life and work of C.S. Lewis. We considered the themes of suffering and God’s apparent absence, the gift of the present moment and the force of evil.
Thereafter, we met fortnightly looking at a few Bible readings and discussing our thoughts. After the summer break, we embarked on another of Hilary Brand’s works – “Finding a Voice.” Though written as a Lent course, we adapted it slightly and thoroughly enjoyed thinking about how we overcome our fears and become more fully ourselves. We ended 2025 focussing on Advent.
Again, in February of this year, we have embarked on Hilary Brand’s Lent course “Christ and the Chocolaterie” which focuses on negotiating and facilitating positive change in our lives. This will conclude next week, and after Easter we’ll return to some consideration of selected passages of Scripture.
We are an enthusiastic group, currently attracting 8-10 regular attenders. Future plans include further consideration of Hilary Brand’s “The Power of Small Choices” and “The Mystery of Everything.”
