HYMN:       Take these stones

Each verse of this hymn is in two halves: the first, the words of the temptation, the second (in italics) the response of Jesus.

Take these stones, and make them bread

To ensure the world is fed.

This is how you’ll get ahead – Giving me the glory.

Your temptation won’t succeed

While on God’s own Word I feed;

His the only bread need,

Giving God the glory.

Dropping from the temple tower?

Trust your angels’ saving power!

This could be your finest hour,

Giving me the glory.

Tricks and stunts are not my way.

Clever games I will not play.

Human stardom will delay

Giving God the glory.

See the nations, great and small?

These are yours! You’ll rule them all

If before my feet you’ll fall,

Giving me the glory.

Triumph, might, and earthly pride,

Worth and strength my heart derides.

Human power I cast aside,

Giving God the glory.

You, I’ll always keep in line

If you bend your will to mine.

You and I can intertwine,

Giving me the glory.

Your enticements I disown.

God, my Lord, you’ll not dethrone.

I will worship Him alone,

Giving God the glory

Many people give by standing order but there is also the option to give via the offering plate in the vestibule area of the church, immediately before entering or leaving the sanctuary. You can pop your offering in the plate either before or after the service. Thank you!

Message from Glasgow Phoenix Choir

We are looking forward to our concert in Cambuslang Parish Church this afternoon (22nd February 2.30 pm). It is one of our favourite venues as we are always assured of a warm welcome, so we are delighted to come as part of our 75th season. We have been rehearsing hard and our programme this year includes a huge variety of choral favourites including classic and modern anthems, jazz numbers, Scots and Burns songs, the Beatles and even a bit of ABBA thrown in so there will be something for everyone. The concert is in aid of Church funds. Tickets (£10) are available after Church or at the door and include refreshments and children are free, so this is an ideal opportunity for a family outing or to invite friends and neighbours to join us for this special event.

DISCOVERY GROUP ‘Believing and Belonging’

THE DISCOVERY GROUP REMAINS SUSPENDED MEANTIME

New dates will be intimated in due course.

Meanwhile, anyone interested in attending can find out more from David.

A reminder that these meetings are for those interested in exploring the basics of the faith, or considering baptism, confirmation, or ‘church membership’, or wanting to discover more about God and the Christian Life, or wanting to ‘refresh’ what they believe, or if you are simply a bit curious about the Christian Faith and following Jesus.

THE REAL EASTER EGG CAMPAIGN

Fifteen years ago, David Marshall, founder and CEO of Meaningful Chocolate came up with the idea of The Real Easter Egg – it was called “Real” because it did three things: included a copy of the Easter Story and supported Fairtrade and charitable projects.

The Real Easter Egg is NOT on sale in supermarkets.

A few years ago we supported this by asking our church family to consider buying The Real Easter Egg and we are offering you the opportunity to do so again this year.

The 2026 Original Real Easter Egg includes a new 24 page Easter Story activity book.

Posters showing the range, prices and order forms will be available in the vestibule and the large hall before and after the morning service from this Sunday 1st February until Sunday 1st March. The order will be sent on Tuesday 3rd March.

Please speak to me if you wish further information. Payment will be required no later than Sunday 1st March.

Thank You.

Susan Young

Prayer Tree: The congregational Prayer Tree is available in the Welcome Area, along with tags on which names can be written of any for whom prayers are sought. Names on the Prayer Tree will normally be included by the Ministry Team in prayers offered in worship at the Sunday Service and Tuesday Service following. It is the normal practice of the Ministry Team to include first names only to help preserve appropriate anonymity.  Prayer requests are removed from the tree after an appropriate time. If you wish a name to be remembered thereafter then please place a further tag on the tree. Thank you.

Halls Convenor: please send any enquiries about hall bookings etc to our Halls Convenor Derek Convenor: derekburnscpc@gmail.com

Ohna Robertson will be delighted to receive your announcements for inclusion in the Order of Service by Wednesday at 12 noon: ohna.robertson@ntlworld.com
