HYMN We rejoice to be God’s chosen

[John Bell and Graham Maule]

We rejoice to be God’s chosen

Not through virtue, work or skill,

But because God’s love is generous

Unconfirmed to human will.

And because God’s love is restless

Like the surging of the sea,

We are pulled by heaven’s dynamic

To become not just to be.

We rejoice to be God’s chosen

To be gathered at God’s side

Not to build a pious ghetto

Or be steeped in selfish pride.

But to celebrate the goodness

Of the one who sets us free

From the smallest of our vision

To become not just to be.

We rejoice to be God’s chosen

To align with heaven’s intent,

To await where we are summoned

And accept where we are sent.

We rejoice to be God’s chosen

And amidst all that we see

To anticipate with wonder

That the best is yet to be.             [Tune Nettleton]

The offering is brought forward and the Sunday Club return

HYMN         Here and now we’re bound together

[Ally Barrett ‘God Welcomes All’ 82]

Here and now we’re bound together:

held in one divine embrace.

Help us see, in one another,

difference as a gift of grace.

As each passing generation

worships you in fresh new ways,

join our songs with all creation,

lift our voice to sing your praise.

Lord, affirm our shared vocation:

may we bring your plans to birth,

build your church on sure foundations,

fit to serve a troubled earth.

Growing, praying, sharing, learning,

deep in wisdom, broad in scope,

love-revealing, truth-discerning,

living out the gospel hope.

In your work of transformation

you are making all things new.

Stir our hearts’ imagination,

call us now to work with you.

Send us out to share your mission;

show us each our part to play.

as we live the Great Commission,

joyful in your world today.                      [Tune: Hyfrydol]

in our worship and community involvement.

We affirm the dignity of all people

through compassion and kindness.

Our offerings help support the mission and work of our church and we are grateful to all those who give financially Sunday by Sunday. Many people give by standing order but there is also the option to give via the offering plate in the vestibule area of the church, immediately before entering or leaving the sanctuary. You can pop your offering in the plate either before or after the service. Thank you!

Fellowship Tea Rota: Members of the Fellowship Tea team should have received the new rota by email.  Copies are also available in the kitchen. Thanks to all who serve the congregation in this way.

Please note that owing to a hall booking, there will be no Fellowship Tea after the service today.

Celebration of the Neighbourly: On Sunday 25th January, during worship, we will be marking the end of the Neighbourly Group which had its beginnings in Trinity Church in Cambuslang in 1907. After worship there will be refreshments in the Large Hall, including home baking, and we hope that as many folks as possible will be able to come along. Please note that while we are able to cater for gluten free diets, we do not have capacity to cater for other dietary requirements.

Kirk Session: Please notethe next Kirk Session meeting will take place on Tuesday 27th January in the Morrison Room at 7.30pm.

Cambuslang and Rutherglen Reachout Trust are participating in SU Day of Prayer on Wednesday 28th January 2026. Members of the congregation are invited to join them in a Prayer Walk, to pray for the community and stopping at some of the schools they serve. They will leave Cambuslang Parish Church at 12:30 and finish at 2:30 pm.

Prayer Tree: The congregational Prayer Tree is available in the Welcome Area, along with tags on which names can be written of any for whom prayers are sought. Names on the Prayer Tree will normally be included by the Ministry Team in prayers offered in worship at the Sunday Service and Tuesday Service following. It is the normal practice of the Ministry Team to include first names only to help preserve appropriate anonymity.  Prayer requests are removed from the tree after an appropriate time. If you wish a name to be remembered thereafter then please place a further tag on the tree. Thank you.

Discovery Group ‘Believing and Belonging’

Another series of ‘Believing and Belonging’ meetings, following the same topics and material as recent courses, will be commencing in January.

These meetings are for those interested in exploring the basics of the faith, or considering baptism, confirmation, or ‘church membership’, or wanting to discover more about God and the Christian Life, or wanting to ‘refresh’ what they believe, or if you are simply a bit curious about the Christian Faith and following Jesus.

These meetings will be on Thursday evenings at 7.00pm in the Morriston Room beginning on 15th January (and ending on 12th February).
