HYMN When the Wheel of Fate is Turning Tune CH4 – 338
Offering Presented
When the wheel of fate is turning
and the mills of God grind slow;
when the past seems more attractive
than the future we don’t know;
when our confidence is waning
and we lack security,
comes the timeless word of Jesus
that the truth will set us free.
Is it war or economics,
is it danger or deceit,
is it unforeseen depression,
fear of failure to compete?
Have the times which once were changing
led where no one wants to be?
Shall we live by lies on offer
or the truth that sets us free?
With real faith there will be doubting,
and with loss there will be grief.
No one knows the contradictions
which will exercise belief.
Against conflicts life might bring us
God provides no guarantee,
just this word of hope and healing:
know that truth will set you free.
So, dear Jesus, make us willing
to unmask convenient lies
to protest wherever power
closes conscience, ears and eyes;
And release our expectations
of your kingdom, yet to be,
born in courage, joy and justice
and the truth that sets us free.
John L Bell – ‘God Welcomes All’
Prayer of Dedication, Thanksgiving, and Intercession
HYMN 465 Be Thou my Vision
Blessing and Amen

Can you help? September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Rachel (Bob and Hilary’s daughter and Ferne’s Mummy) is holding a fundraising Bake Sale and Tombola in the Royal Children’s Hospital, where she works. If you have anything you would like to regift or gift, which could help the Tombola, Bob and Hilary would be delighted to receive it next Sunday. Thank you.
The £10/£20 Challenge will be wound up at the end of September. If you still have proceeds from your endeavours, please pass these on to Tony Neeson, Ohna Robertson, Janet Stewart, Bob McDougall or Alison Thomson. Alternatively, if you received money from the church but have not managed to use this towards a fundraising activity, please return that money. The challenge has been a great success and the Fundraising Team would like to thank all those who took part. It has generated a great deal of fun and fellowship as well as raising funds for the church. The financial results will be announced once all monies have been ingathered.
Missing DVD Player – A DVD player, belonging to a member of the congregation seems to have gone missing. It was previously with the television that’s used for various activities & kept down near the halls. Any ideas, let the church office know. Thanks.

Transition Support Group meeting for Interim Ministry.
On Wednesday 24th September there will be a congregational meeting in the large hall at 7-9pm when Rev Hanneke Marshall, Interim Minister at Knightswood Anniesland Trinity Church, will lead us through a process to identify and agree goals for the period of Interim Ministry at Cambuslang Parish Church. It is important to hear the voices of the congregation in this process and so it is hoped as many people as possible will be able to attend.
In 2024, the Kirk Session agreed a list of priorities for development and 3 of these remain:
- Review of Communication and Administration
- Review of governance and Kirk Session Teams
- Review of what it means to be a parish church.
Alongside this, the Local Church Review Report also identified the following goals
- Community outreach
- Youth development
- Increasing pastoral care
- Calling a minister of Word and Sacrament
We are keen to hear your perspectives on these issues as well as hearing about other parts of our life together as a church, which you feel may need some attention.
Please put the date into your diary and come along on the 24th September.
David and Hilary
